Kickboxing coach Harry Steele-Moyer III is of mixed
Native American, African and Scottish descent and was raised amongst both Hawaiian and Chumash cultures. As stepson
to the well-known Kupihea family of Hawaiian Limalama masters, Harry had the great fortune to be raised around martial arts.
He began his own training in the family art of Limalama at the young age of five, studying under his stepfather Kumu
Robert Maka Kupihea and uncle Ke Kumu Steven Hau'oli Kupihea. As he grew, Harry branched out to study Shito Ru Karate
under Sensei Ray Vilador as well as Hung Gar Kung Fu and Kickboxing with Bahadur Thomas (Freewind) Bonnywell. He
began boxing with Lompoc Boxing (now Ray Baca's Boxing) in the early 1990's.
Coach Harry believes strongly in Studio 7's mission of community service and donates his time
to several volunteer projects helping the children of Lompoc. He states, "Our family tradition, in the example
of my uncle Hau'oli (who has now passed on), is to be a good father and a man of honor. It is my goal to carry on these
principles. I'm an idealist, and I believe the world can be made better. Teaching honor through martial arts
and community service is how I do my part to help accomplish this!"
